Trudeau's Inaction on Hateful Protests Now Out of Control is all On Him
Just another example of ineptness and incompetence
When is someone going to say enough is enough? It has been nearly eight months since the horrific Hamas attacks on Israel. We have had eight months of pro-Palestinian and, let’s be honest, pro-Hamas, protesters marching in the streets of most western countries screaming for ceasefires and calling for the deaths of Jews. Here in Canada the overt acts of hatred and violence perpetrated against the Jewish people by some of the protesters have been both shocking and disturbing. Jewish students in schools from the elementary level to university have been bullied and threatened to the point that some are now attending school online. Jews attending synagogue have been harassed and intimidated by protesters assembling outside their places of worship.
Protesters have threatened, intimidated and even vandalized Jewish-owned businesses and institutions. They have blocked roads leading to areas with a sizeable Jewish presence. Many of them are masked, and are often confrontational and menacing. Jews who have made Canada their home don’t feel safe anymore.

Yet, these clear criminal acts of incitement to hatred have been allowed to continue unchecked by police and downplayed by the Trudeau government which vacillates about whose side it is on — the Israelis or the Palestinians and even Hamas. This has only emboldened the protesters even more. This emboldening was keenly on display this past weekend when thousands of them wearing the black and white Palestinian keffiyeh and brandishing placards and Palestinian flags converged on Parliament Hill right in front the Prime Minister’s office chanting, ‘Long live October 7th!’

This is no protest calling for a ceasefire, this is straight up supporting and cheering for Hamas – a terrorist group that is recognized as such in countries around the world including Canada. This is hate speech and is much of what these protests have been promulgating since they started, when many, who appeared to be of Arabic ethnicity, took to the streets in Canada on the evening of October 7th, to celebrate the massacre, long before Israel started even launching its attacks on Gaza.
And as for the Trudeau government, throughout these demonstrations, its response to it all can best be described as subdued and vapid. Even when they try to condemn the flagrant anti semitism exhibited by protesters, they also, in turn, have to express concern about rising Islamophobia a ginned up term that leftists and liberals manufactured to make normal human reactions to terrorism appear racist or bigoted.
Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland tried to plead ignorance when reporters at a press conference in Montreal asked about the happenings on Parliament Hill over the weekend. She responded by saying, “I wasn’t in Ottawa over the weekend,” And I’m not aware of those specific reports.” But she in her non-response she still had to express concerns about Islamophobia, while at the same time acknowledging the rise of anti-semitism in the country since the protests began.
Freeland must have the most incompetent or dumbest communications staff in the country if they failed to brief her on the matter before a press conference. And she must be pretty dumb herself to think people wouldn’t recognize that she was feigning ignorance to hide her reticence to condemn the vile chants that came from that crowd on Parliament Hill. Finally on Sunday, apparently after viewing the video and perhaps having a little chat with her communications staff she posted this statement on X.
Trudeau got ‘tough’ too on Sunday, perhaps after having a little strategy session with his Deputy PM. He posted the following statement on X:
A great acknowledgement of what’s been going on for the last eight months and he and Freeland can post as many condemnations as they like on X, but the real question is what are they going to do about it? Trudeau had had no problem bringing the hammer down on the Freedom Convoy protesters, by invoking the Emergencies Act, which despite spurious accusations on his part, on his government’s part and by the mainstream media, were not spreading hate speech and were not a bunch of anti semitic, white supremacist racists who sported Nazi flags. And Freeland had no problem freezing their bank accounts. Now there are real anti-Semites in the streets who have been calling for the deaths of Jews for months, and openly harassing and intimidating them and promulgating hate speech against them. Yet, we haven’t seen Trudeau and stand up in Parliament accuse them of anti-semitism like he did members of the Freedom Convoy, nor have we seen Freeland gleefully announce her plans on freezing their bank accounts, as she did when she announced this action against the truckers. We really haven’t seen them take any kind of action.
The real question is, how does the government, or government’s rather, because the provincial premiers have been pretty quiet about it all as well, bring an end to all of this? And what about law enforcement? Police chiefs have had their front line members stand on the sidelines, or act as escorts for these protests for months. Ottawa police now say they are investigating the accusations of hate speech from the weekend and have opened a file on it. About time, is what most, I think, should say, to the Ottawa police, and most Canadian police forces, including the RCMP, who have allowed these protests to continue with impunity for months.
What has become very clear, is that these protests should have been nipped in the bud. The minute protesters started celebrating the massacres before there was any indication of what Israel might do to retaliate, our political leaders and our police agencies should have made it clear that we don’t tolerate inciting hatred against any group and in particular we don’t tolerate blatant anti-semitism. But, instead Trudeau decided we should tolerate it, because according to him:
People are forgetting a little bit that we’re a country that protects the freedom of expression,” Trudeau said back in November. “And we have to remember that just waving a Palestinian flag is not automatically antisemitism.”
For a man who sees hate speech and racism around every corner in this country, it is funny that he couldn’t see it in these protests. Because jubilantly celebrating the deaths of Jews who were viciously massacred by a terrorist group is a hate crime pure and simple, and celebrating it is clearly a form of hate speech and it is a form of anti-semitism no matter how Trudeau tried to dress it up as ‘freedom of expression’. Funny how he never saw the need to protect the Freedom Convoy’s ‘freedom of expression’ when they were protesting his COVID mandates and restrictions. Instead he accused them of having ‘unacceptable views’ and asked whether ‘these people’ should be tolerated. But somehow people endorsing the deaths, rapes, torture and kidnapping of people at the hands of a terrorist group should be tolerated? That is certainly a strange type of logic.
These protests, if it hasn’t become clear to anyone watching them, are not some spontaneous, organic groundswell of support for the Palestinians. They are large and well equipped with all the all the necessary protest accoutrement – sound systems, megaphones, posters, placards and flags. They are well organized, very orchestrated and generously funded. It leads one to think it is almost as though they were poised, at the ready, to begin once the massacres hit the news – like the start of any well planned campaign. And who would be funding such a campaign? Would it perhaps be Hamas and Iran, the country who was behind the massacres to begin with? Would such funding come indirectly, being funnelled through a variety of organizations that claim charity or NGO status, internationally or in Canada. Organizations such as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which despite the generic name only supports Palestinian relief and causes. The Liberals had temporarily ceased funding it upon hearing reports that it harboured members of Hamas who had actually participated in the October 7th massacre, but have since decided to resume funding it.
Then there is the Samidoun (Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network), a registered Canadian not-for-profit. It has clear ties to The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a Syrian-based terrorist group established by Ahmad Jibri, a former Syrian Army officer which is listed as a terrorist entity by Canada. Samidoun has an active presence in Canada where it holds events, raises funds, runs advocacy campaigns, and organizes activities on university campuses. Regularly, Samidoun officials call for violence against Jews. Samidoun’s has offices in Vancouver and Toronto. The Palestinian Youth Movement is another organization that has a presence in Canada that has been instrumental in organizing these waves of protests since October 7th. These are organizations that openly support terrorist groups like Hamas. Yet, has the Trudeau government done anything to investigate them and seize their bank accounts on the basis that they are associated with terrorist groups? Instead they have the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) spying on parents who oppose extreme gender ideology and are simply concerned that their children are being exposed to it in schools. But nothing to see here.
The inaction of the Trudeau government, which should have been leading the charge on this matter, has unleashed a monster in the form of a large emboldened contingency of hostile and tenacious Islamists which may be another breeding ground for home grown terrorists. And to top it off they are fervently supported by thousands of hapless university students, and 20 and 30 somethings, who are the unfortunate victims of DEI poison. Many don’t even really know what they are protesting. All they do know is the DEI formula which is the battle between the oppressed and the oppressor and the oppressed must always be defended. In this case the Jews are the oppressors so therefore all Jews are bad and the Palestinians are the oppressed so all Palestinians are good.
Trudeau and the rest of his government are up to their asses in alligators on a situation they have allowed to happen by turning a blind eye to the hatred these protests have been fomenting for months. But now the movement has become so large gaining control over it and subduing it is a problem. So the best solution Trudeau, and company, have come with thus far, is to jump on X and post their condemnation of the most recent vile examples of hate speech on the part of these protesters that they have allowed to go unchecked for months. Just another example of the complete and utter disaster this government is, and has been from the get go.

It's the BLM riots dressed up in a new suit. Our youth are swayed this way and that, now protesting in favor of the very regimes that would kill them. It's truly quite a propaganda feat.
I’m proud to say that I participated in the Convoy on Parliament Hill. A jubilant celebration that eclipsed any Canada Day I’ve ever attended. I witnessed peaceful and concerned citizens united by a common desire to call out and prevent further government overreach. Flash forward to a Palestinian protest I recently witnessed in Ottawa. Hateful and vile rhetoric/chanting, and open support for Hamas, a terrorist organization. My ancestors were immigrants who had the good sense to chuck their political and cultural baggage at the door. They were grateful for a chance to build a new life in this country. They would be rolling in their graves if they knew what was happening here now. The current regime has opened Pandora’s box. Citizenship in this country is a privilege. Those who espouse hatred have no place here. If the goal is to educate and garner sympathy for their cause, it’s seriously backfiring. It’s also horrifying to watch the clock roll back to a level of Jew hatred not seen since WWII. What’s happening on North American campuses is atrocious. So glad I graduated in the 90’s before the ideological takeover.
