Did Democrat's Obsession with Transgender Issues Contribute to Trump's Win?

A left leaning poll says it probably did

It may not surprise those who consider themselves political moderates, or swing voters, that the Democratic Party’s radical positions on social issues around extreme elements of the LGBTQ+ movement, and transgenderism, in particular, along with its other ‘woke’ DEI policies played a decisive role in making Donald Trump the 47th president of the United States. 

It’s clear that the Party must have sensed that their ‘woke’ agenda was not sitting well with many ordinary Americans, because all Democrat candidates running for office and Harris herself, deliberately downplayed it. Throughout her entire campaign, Harris made a concerted effort to distance herself from those issues or policies, seldom mentioning any topics related related to left-wing Democrat’s obsessions with racism, critical race theory and gender, or more specifically transgender ideology.  This was so apparent that comedian, John Stewart, in his ironic and surprisingly humorous post-mortem of the election on “The Daily Show” observed that Democrat candidates running in the election, including Harris herself, sounded more like Republicans.

“I just didn’t recall seeing any Democrats running on woke shit.” he remarked. He then played a montage of Democrat ad campaigns that spouted conservative policies on issues like immigration — such as no benefits for illegal immigrants or endorsing more funding for police and openly rejecting gender-affirming care. He even included the snippet from Harris’ interview with “60 Minutes” where she said, "I have a glock.”

“They didn’t do the woke thing, he exclaimed. “They acted like Republicans for the last four months. They wore camouflage hats and went to Cheney family reunions. Do you know how dangerous it is to wear a hunting hat around the Cheneys?”

Yet, despite these efforts recent exit poll data from Blueprint 2024, a left leaning organization dedicated to getting Kamala Harris elected, indicates they weren’t able to hoodwink many Americans and swing voters, in particular, into buying that they had suddenly become ‘unwoke.’ According to the poll, while the Democrats lost on every single core election issue including the two major ones – high inflation and open borders and immigration – the Party’s stance on several cultural issues appeared to have particular sway with swing voters. Such voters who might have otherwise voted for independents, stayed home or were still considering Harris, cast their ballots for Trump and the Republicans largely due to what they viewed as the Democrat’s extreme positions on DEI issues – and more specifically, transgenderism.

These ranged from Democrats supporting policies such as gender-affirming care for minors and allowing trans-women (biological men, who simply identify as women) to participate in women’s sports and share their locker rooms, to having taxpayers foot the bill for sex change operations for male prisoners who ‘identified’ as women. Many swing voters viewed Harris as seeming to be more concerned with issues around these policies rather than helping the middle class. For those who chose Trump over her it was the number one most important issue relative to all the other issues the polls asked them to rate. The next most important issues were inflation followed closely by immigration.  

Taxpayer Funded Gender-Affirming Care for Prisoners and Illegals

Harris tried to distance herself from some of her own extreme policy stances on transgenderism even when pressed about them in interviews, particularly the one with Bret Baier on Fox News, when he asked her: “Are you still in support of using taxpayer dollars to help prison inmates or detained illegal aliens to transition to another gender? She dodged the questioning saying, “I will follow the law.” She also tried to imply the previous Trump administration was responsible for such a law.

This response, however, was contrary to her own words, which were exposed in an ad produced by the Trump campaign – which it ran on networks during high audience programming periods, such as football games – that showcased an actual interview Harris did wherein she expressed her wholehearted support for government funded sex change surgeries for prisoners and illegal migrants. 

Changing Policy to Allow Tran-Women to Compete in Women’s Sports

Despite efforts to keep the Biden-Harris administration’s championing of extreme transgender ideology under wraps it would seem many aspects of it trickled down to voters either via the regime media who supported the Democrat’s positions or conservative media who opposed them. This included making monumental changes to Title IX, which was originally enacted back in the early 1970s to give women athletes the right to equal opportunity in sports at academic, amateur and professional levels. The changes proposed by the Democrats would have redefined sex to include ‘gender identity’ which would allow biological males who identify as transgender ‘women’ to not only compete in women’s athletics at all levels, but also share lockers rooms, showers, and bathrooms with biological women all with the blessing of the federal government. 

Or perhaps it was appointing people like this to positions of great responsibility and importance.

Trans-woman Admiral Rachel Levine named a four-star admiral in the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, who has openly supported gender affirming care for children. Sam Brinton an LGBTQ+ activist who was Deputy Assistant Secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the Office of Nuclear Energy until he was charged with luggage theft that involved stealing suitcases from woman at US airports on three separate occasions.

Endorsing Gender-Affirming Care for Minors

President Joe Biden is on record endorsing policies to allow for ‘gender affirming care’ to be provided to minors. This included having his Justice Department issue a letter to all state Attorney’s General back in 2022, advising them, among other things, that — “Laws and policies that prevent individuals (including minors) from receiving gender-affirming medical care may infringe on federal constitutional protections under the Equal Protection Clause and Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.”

This ‘care’ includes the provision of puberty blockers for pre-adolescent children, cross-sex hormone therapy for minors, both of which may cause life-long sterility, as well as irreversible sex reassignment surgeries, again, for minors. He went further to condemn states that had enacted legislation to make such gender affirming care measures illegal in their jurisdictions. Biden called the actions by these states immoral. 

Voters might have also come across this interview Megyn Kelly did with Bill Maher, just a week or so prior to the election, on his television show Real Time With Bill Maher, where she discussed her views on this subject, which actually shocked his audience — many of whom are likely Democrats or swing voters, given that Maher is a vocal Democrat. However, to his credit has been very critical of many of their ‘woke’ policies, and this one, in particular.

Kelly, is a former host and news commentator having worked for both FOX News and NBC News. She currently hosts her own podcast — The Megyn Kelly Show — which often draws audiences of 5 million plus, and has over 2.5 million subscribers.

She also appeared at a Trump rally, again just days before the election, where she endorsed Trump and again raised the issue of the Democrats championing policies on transgenderism and their impact on children and biological women and children.

The Harris campaign and the regime media who backed her worked very hard to make abortion – using the tired euphemism – “reproductive rights”, a women’s rights issue in light of a recent Supreme Court ruling that had returned the issue of determining abortion laws to individual states.

Yet, she never touched on women’s rights at all when it came to the issue of men in women’s safe spaces and women’s and girls’ safety in sports when it comes to trans-women competing against them. Issues, as I indicated earlier, that both her and Biden fully supported with the amendments to Title IX. And ironically the issue of actually defining what a woman was — when discussing women’s issues and with a female candidate running for president never came up. But I guess, if you had to ask that woman candidate to define what is a woman – Kamala Harris may well not have been able to answer the question, much in the same way the Democratic nominee for the Supreme Court justice nominee and now a sitting Supreme Court Ketanji Brown Jackson could not due to her allegiance to transgender ideology.

Now in the aftermath of all of this it would seem some Democrats and their leftist media support team members are coming to terms with that fact that many, many Americans were not only aware of the Democrat’s radical positions on extreme transgender ideology, but did not like them. Joe Scarborough, on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, did assign some blame for Harris’ loss to the Democrat Party’s obsession with identity politics around such issues as advocating for boys who identify as girls playing in girls sports, but was vilified for doing so by other factions of the Party and trans-activists. It would seem that the Party is at war within itself over the entire matter as this exchange between pundits on CNN anchor, Abby Philip’s show clearly illustrates.

As the Republicans now say, the Democrats can take all the time they want to sort out where they stand on these controversial and contentious issues, but until they do, they are likely to face more election drubbings.
