"The Devil is in the details" is an apt description.

I had no idea about the "green scandal" the Liberals were enmeshed in. I don't follow MSM much except to glance through the Globe & Mail headlines once a day - it's my way of keeping an eye on the latest propaganda/BS being produced. While I'd seen some headlines about Parliament being deadlocked, those fierce, "award-winning journalists" at the G&M weren't letting details about green scandals creep into their splashy front page.

That this so-called "tax break" is being used as a way to get around revealing their criminality is just so Machiavellian.

Of course most people have no idea. Why? Because the legacy media aren’t covering it because it looks really bad for the Liberals. Instead they’d rather make up bullshit about Poilievre being a ‘control freak’ with his caucus about not talking to the media or members of the Liberal or NDP caucus. Again the Devil is in the details on this story as well. Poilievre knows an election is at hand and the Conservatives are in the lead by a wide margin. But any MP, could make some stupid remark to the media, that could erupt in a controversy. And talk about hypocrisy, who is more controlling about his party than Trudeau, who has barred those 20 odd members who essentially voted to have him step down from speaking to the media or revealing who they are. Such bullshit. Look to True North media or Northern Perspective if you want more info on this slush fund scandal and it is, as you look it up, disgusting.

Excellent analysis. Cashing in our 'chips' isn't worth it. The sham tax break is hollow. Thanks for letting readers know unless we are dashing out to get M&Ms, plain or peanut, Coffee Crisp, or Ginger Ale, we are no better off.

In a world where people think a mile a minute, the Liberals are hoping Canadians won't notice that most grocery items are not taxed. Let's hope more get to read your article.

It is just another clear demonstration of just how bereft of ideas and scruples the Liberals are. Did you see Friday? Montreal is burning, Antifa and Palestinian protesters breaking windows, attacking cops and completely out of control. And where is Trudeau? At the Taylor Swift concert acting like the boy child he is handing out ‘friendship’ bracelets to teenybopper girls. Again, if this had been Poilievre the media would have been on this complete lack of self-awareness and sense of duty and borderline pedophilia in a heartbeat. Oh and meanwhile Pat King from the Freedom Convoy is found guilty on numerous mischief and other junk charges!

The tax cuts are a complete joke. The way he implies that he is cutting the GST on all groceries just shows that he thinks most Canadians are too dumb to realize there alreasdy is no tax on almost all groceries. I think his tax cut announcment backfired deservedly so as its clearly a desperate attempt to buy votes and play politics.

Pat King was his own worst enemy. I expected him to be convicted as he was so provocative and said many really stupid things. I am still hoping that Lich and Barber dont get convicted but who knows. Montreal is not burning to the ground..I live there and didnt even notice it. Yes there was some violence in a tiny part of the downtown but I feel the headlines are apocalyptic over this. We have had riots after stanley cup games that were worse..so has Vancouver. Havign said that these pro Palestiniain protesters are not helping their cause even though many Canadians do sympathize with the Palestinian situation in Gaza.

I think the reason Trudeau said that he was taking the GST off $100 percent of groceries is because doesn’t realize himself that most groceries aren’t taxed — because he never shops for groceries or pays for anything. And as I said in my piece I hope Canadians don’t fall for it and see it for what it is.

As for Pat King, yes he was provocative and didn’t help the Convoy. That being said the Crown says they are going to be asking for a stiff sentence — which could get him up to ten years. He has already done jail time and be impoverished with this prosecution, I think that’s enough. Plus there are dozens and dozens of Convoy protesters still fighting charges in court all bullshit mischief charges and that is disgusting and there is no doubt in my mind that they are all politically motivated.

Montreal was just the icing on the cake for these pro-Palestinian-Hamas protests. I don’t frankly care if you didn’t notice it in Montreal, it was bad and a bad look for Canada. And Trudeau, well what can I say the dancing at a Taylor Swift concert with a bunch of teeny boppers. That was cringe. The police in Montreal looked unprepared and more like onlookers than riot police. As well, these protests have been going on in cities across this country for over a year. The protesters are becoming increasingly violent and emboldened. It is clear they are planned and back financially by Samidoun and other terrorist organizations. Samidoun has now been declared a terrorist backed organization in Canada. They have two offices in Canada, one in Toronto and one in Vancouver. Why haven’t they been shut down? Why haven’t their bank accounts or fund raising mechanisms been shut down. Trudeau sure didn’t have a problem making sure the Freedom Convoy’s finances and personal bank accounts were shut down, but somehow his government and the cops can’t muster up the intelligence or resources to do the same with this bullshit. Of course they could. And, when the money dries up, then the protests dry up. As for Tamara and Chris, I sat through most of their trial. I am obviously biased but I think the Crown’s case was very weak. The judge seemed pretty fair, but everyone thought the judge was fair for the two Coutts boys and look what happened there. So, it is difficult to call it. I hope for the best outcome for both of them, they are both lovely people and have been put through so much. Which again is why I come back to how these Palestinian protest and protesters are given the latitude they are — many aren’t even Canadian citizens and should frankly been sent back to their country of origin pronto.

Lol yes you may be right about Trudeau not knowing that as he is such an elitist. But I think they also know some Canadians may not catch the nuance.

Pat King, imo, was the person who brought the most negative energy and impression to the Freedom Convoy. Anyone trashinig the convoy almost always brought up his videos and comments. He really really did not help and frankly I really wish he had stayed home. He tarnished the reputation of so many other good people. I am surprised you are surprised he was found guilty..to me it was a given based on his outrageous behaviour and statements. I dont think he deserves 10 years in jail not even a few..but I suspect they will make an example of him as he was the most egregious example. I really hope this does not influence the verdict on Lich and Barber but it likely will to some extent. I am leaning towards Lich and Barber being found guilty of at least 1 or 2 charges but hope I am wrong.

The judicial system is full of elites with big connections to Ottawa and left wing politicians so this should come as no surprise.

In terms of the Montreal violence..yes its a shame that they caused the damage they did. But to be fair some of the headlines literally make ir sound like Montreal was burning which is agross exaggeration. None of us like misinformation but that was clearly blown out of proportion. It barely affected anyone in the city. We have had worse riots. If there are terror groups in Canada then yes we should shut them down. But honestly I feel for months now there have been numerous attempts to demonize anyone pro Palestiniian. The vast majority are non violent and are not terrorists just people upset at the atrocities commited by the Israeli government. Why the right wing/conservative movement is so one sided ont his issue baffles me..its clear that the Israeli government is using way way too much force. I agree with Trish on this issue..its a definite Truth over Tribe one for me. I do not agree with Poilievre and the right wing movement with respect to this even though I tend to support most of their views.

I agree with about Pat King, he didn’t help things. By the same token, if it wasn’t him, they would have found someone else, because the media had one mission and only one mission, trash the Convoy. I wasn’t surprised he was found guilty, given that everyone who has been tried has been found guilty. Even when they have been acquitted, the Crown appeals and the verdict is overturned. So far only one or two convoy people have been successful in winning their cases. The Coutts Three in Alberta are still awaiting sentencing. The only faint hope is that the judge that is trying Tamara and Chris, also tried another convoy case and found the defendant not guilty. But her verdict was appealed and overturned and based on some of her comments during the Crown’s final arguments she wasn’t thrill about that. So she may, err on the side of going easy, even if she can’t bring herself to acquit them on everything.

Sorry, the protests are very anti-semetic, they have called for the end of Canada, etc. Montreal was just an example of what has been happening in cities for over a year. People are sick of it. You seem to ignore what I said about how they are funded by Samidoun a terrorist organization — that is well known. As well, they have made their point and yet it goes on and on. So enough is enough. You really should watch the interview the guys at Triggernometry did with Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib’s on their podcast about the current war. He is a Palestinian and has a pretty interesting perspective on it.

I guess its true that they would have found someone else but that still doesnt excuse him or the other people who made all sorts of questionable and crazy statements. Those people really did not help the Convoy but one way or another the media was going to demonize them.

But again I cant help but feeling that there has been a similar tactic taken months ago to tarnish any pro Palestinian protest in a very negative light. There are clearly extremists at some of these protests and they should be dealt with but I firmly believe the vast majority are peaceful people who are trying to get the world to do something about the carnage in Gaza.

This Hail Mary pass won't lead to a touchdown for any Canadians, including the Liberals. It's another waste of billions of our hard earned money. And anyone with half a brain will see it for what it is: a pathetic attempt to buy votes. That's why seniors were excluded from the $250 cheques. It's the demographic group most likely to vote Conservative. As others have observed, this is not a serious government and certainly not a smart one either.

I sure as hell the majority of Canadians will see it for the cynical ploy it is, because apparently most of the media don’t. I stressed in the piece how Trudeau made a point of saying they were taking the tax off of 100% of groceries, when most Canadians already know almost all groceries are not taxed. Me thinks that Trudeau is so out of touch in terms of ever having to buy groceries he has no idea that that is the case.

The only thing he probably buys himself are his socks ... And I wouldn't be surprised if these were claimed as a "branding expense".
