Trudeau's 'Resignation' Just More Attention Getting Drama
While he holds Canada and Canadians in limbo...
So as the media and Canadians breathlessly awaited to hear on January 6th — that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau finally did it — he resigned… or did he? When Trudeau announced his decision to resign everyone should have listened carefully to his words because what he actually said was — quote, “I will resign,” not that he had resigned. He made it quite clear that he plans to stay on as Prime Minister until the Liberal Party holds a leadership race, and declares a new leader — whenever that may be. So in typical Trudeau fashion, he lied — he is still Prime Minister and will not face another non-confidence vote for at least another four months because he has also prorogued Parliament not for a ‘reset’, as he claimed - that’s another lie — rather, it is to avoid a prospective non-confidence vote.
It seems he has also decided, with the blessing of Governor-General Mary Simon, it would be in the best interests of the Liberal Party, — not the country or Canadians — to prorogue Parliament for some three months, while the Liberal Party gets it sh—t together to find a new leader. It is not a valid reason for prorogation and Simon should have known that and not granted Trudeau’s request. But she is just another Trudeau Liberal DEI appointee beholding to him for the lavish lifestyle she has so willingly embraced as GG at great expense to the taxpayer.
So, Trudeau, being the narcissist that he is, is still clinging to power, using the very last tool available to him — prorogation — to remain Prime Minister while he looks Canadians in the face, albeit through a camera, and tells them he is resigning, when, in fact, he has not yet done so. The move is so typically Trudeau it is hard to understand why anyone is even surprised by his antics. It is just another attention getting opportunity to put the spotlight and drama, that he so desires and basks in — on him. And in making his ‘announcement’ while lauding his accomplishments which were vastly overblown and telling everyone what an incredible ‘fighter’ he is, he then attempted, unsuccessfully, to humble himself by proclaiming to Canadians what an honour it has been for him to serve them as Prime Minister for the past nine years.
Yet among all these self congratulations about what a great PM he has been, in true narcissistic fashion, he appears to bear no culpability for what led to his decision to resign—only not right now. It would seem that the fighter he claimed to be could no longer stay on as leader due to internal descent within his caucus. Descent for which he, and only he is solely responsible —that being the growing chorus of voices from his MPs calling for his resignation. Caucus members he essentially ignored, while he denied his own growing unpopularity within his own party and with the vast majority of Canadians — and as he still does.
But he didn’t resign, he instead, engineered a process that will allow him to stay on as Prime Minister, and essentially rule the country with no Parliamentary oversight, in the shadow incoming President Donald Trump’s threats of 25 percent tariffs unless more is done to secure our border. Perhaps he thinks that in taking on Trump over the tariff issue, he can demonstrate that ‘fighting’ spirit and somehow win back the confidence of Canadians, and his own party.
In the meantime, Trudeau has shamelessly protected the his own interests and those of the Liberals because he was well aware that his government, already on very shaky grounds, would face another a non-confidence vote, in which all opposition parties had pledged to bring down his government and spark an election when the House was due to return later in January.
So Trudeau in his faux resignation announcement has bought time, one would think for the Liberals to select a new leader. But again, one must listen carefully to what Trudeau says and doesn’t say. His response to a question asked by a French reporter might leave some wondering, including his own party what exactly he meant when he said, again, I quote, “If I’m not the one to lead the party into the next election, the polarization in Parliament that we currently see should die down a bit.” Did you hear that word “if”. Because even if the Liberals name a new leader by March 24th, if Trudeau doesn’t step aside by then, because he hasn’t yet, he would still be PM and if a non-confidence vote took place on that day there could be an election and he would still be the party leader. I mention this, because I stand by my assertions that Trudeau’s narcissism has made him so delusional that he may still think that he and only he along can win the next election despite what most other Liberal party members think and what the polls clearly tell him. On the other hand, if Trudeau does step aside, and the Liberals lose the election under the leadership of another, Trudeau can tell himself, they might have won had he stayed on, despite his own party’s protestations.
The prorogation also helps the Liberals escape, for the time being, yet another nasty scandal that has come to be known as the Green Slush Fund scandal that has plagued them and kept Parliament paralyzed in the previous months due to the government’s refusal to hand over key documents on the cover-up to the RCMP to investigate the matter further. And that investigation involves the Liberals handing over some million and millions dollars to Liberal insiders under the guise of Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), a government agency created by the Liberal government supposedly to help fund Canadian companies develop sustainable technologies. And this is not the first time, it should be noted that this same Liberal government has prorogued Parliament to weigh-lay a scandal. It did so in August of 2020 to take the heat off of Trudeau who was at the centre of the WE Charity Scandal.
So, despite the polls clearly showing that Canadians are completely fed up with Trudeau and the entire Liberal Party for that matter; and despite polls indicating that Canadians want an election, sooner rather than later, Trudeau has completely cancelled out that possibility by proroguing Parliament. Meanwhile his G-G appointee, Mary Simon, who could dissolve Parliament and call an election given that it is clear that the Liberal government has lost not only the confidence of Parliament, but of the Canadian people and thus, has clearly lost its mandate to govern. In fact, it hasn’t been governing for sometime, and won’t be over the next three months. Yet, instead she granted Trudeau permission to prorogue. Or Trudeau could have done the honourable thing himself and dissolved Parliament before the Christmas break and called an election, and taken his lumps.
Once again Trudeau, showing his true colours as the tinpot tyrant that he is, has thumbed his nose at Canadians and thumbed his nose as democracy and did what was best for him. Because when it comes to Trudeau, it has never been about anything else but him.
Narcissist doesn't even begin to describe JT...
Yeah pretty sad state we are in now with Trump around the corner. I think Trudeau said he intends to resign. I still think he will quit and Mark Carney will come in and be heralded as the big savior given his incredible banking and finance career. They will all say we need someone with his experience to navigate this economic crisis with the USA. They will then try to paint Poilievre as unserious because of his slogans ( I admit they are getting on my nerves) and how he is kind of like a Canadian version of Trump. This may be effective especially if there is a lot of fear out there. Remember what fear did to people during Covid. People go insane and believe all sorts of stupdiity so my guess is that they want a crisis to save their skin..either with Carney or a much lower probability chance Trudeau again.
