I think that deserves an excellent Roxanne. Covers the points I think. I have done something just now myself, but yours gives me more food for thought - not that I need more as my mind is overflowing as it is!
As to Democrats and self-reflection or introspection, that is an oxymoron, they will blame anyone but themselves.
Excellent summary of how it all went downhill for the Democrats and the continued ignorance by the political and Hollywood elite of the appeal of Trump (and the team behind him). Unlike the elites he’s listening to the working middle class of America and offering them real hope for a better future. Let’s hope Canadians similarly see through Trudeau and his acolytes and vote them out in 2025.
Thank you. Yes I hope the same happens here in Canada, if only it could be before 2025, but let’s all keep out fingers crossed that it happens long before October of 2025, Canadians have suffered long enough.
Thanks Roxanne for your insightful as analysis and perspectives on Trump's victory. I know that some editorialists believe Trump's win is exactly what Trudeau was waiting for and they're probably right. However, I don't think linking President Trump to Pierre Polievre will help stem the disgust many Canadians feel for Trudeau and his incompetent team. There are polls indicating that a majority of Canadians believe Polievre and the conservatives would build a much stronger relationship for Canada with Trump and the GOP than Trudeau and his lefty lunatics ever could. And in the last quarter, the Conservatives raised 4 times as much money as the liberals. Whenever an election happens, I believe that the Conservatives will achieve a landslide victory. And just like in the States, it won't make any difference what the media says or writes. The tide has turned on that turkey called Trudeau.
Thanks Rosemary. I am with you on this just said to Gil after hearing the Republicans had won the House, as well as the Senate, that I hope we have the same type of hands down victory here. On another note, I watched an interview CTV had with Nick Nanos on some recent polling, and the leadership element for the Liberals looks particularly grim. They have no one to take over for Trudeau even if he does step down. But in that interview Nick Nanos also discussed a poll they had done just a few days before the American election asking Canadians who they thought would be better to deal with the next administration whoever that might me. The result was that Trudeau was about ten points ahead of Poilievre. Now Nanos, Liberal hack that he is put this down to the fact that this was because Trudeau had a track record dealing with Trump, on NAFTA etc. Really? I remember that whole fiasco as being an embarrassment for Canada, when the US signed a deal with Mexico, before they signed one with us. That said, my view on this was that when Canadians were asked this they more than likely assumed that Kamala would win, if they watched CBC or CTV etc. And certainly they would think Trudeau would be the better choice dealing with a woke lefty because he is one too. I think Trump would be much happier dealing with someone who has the same values as he does, and who would be a nonsense kind of guy like Poillievre. As well, the Conservatives do have a bit of an in with the Trump administration, that being that one of their MPs Jamil Jivani, he became close friends with JD Vance while attending Harvard. Both felt like fish out of water at the school and forged a friendship.
Yes, and I just read in a City News/Canadian Press article that several of the people Trump chose for key positions are not fans of Mr Trudeau by any stretch of anyone's imagination. It's going to be interesting to see how all of this plays out!
A great overview of what has happened. My concnern now is how this plays out for Poilievre. The Liberals and mainstream media are going to go into hyper mode demonizing Poilievre and connecting him to Trump over the next year. There is a high chance that Trump does something to annoy Canadians like increase tariffs, etc. So many Canadians are likely going to be annoyed at him and then the media will be linking Poilievre and the Cons to him. It will be very difficult for Poilievre not to maintain a 20 point lead. Fear and propoganda works well on Canadians..Americans are more immune to the bs and they have much stronger media voices from the right. We literally have nobody on the right in media with any real viewership. So my fear is Poilievre only winds a minority government next year or worse may even lose. Poilievre needs to be more careful also as he has been a little too cozy with some questionable people.
I know where you are coming from which is why it is imperative that Trudeau gets booted sooner rather than later. You might take some solace in a recent poll that shows Canadians like Trump better the Trudeau. I only keep hoping that Singh will get a spine or the Liberals who want Trudeau gone will have the guts to vote against him or at least abstain in the next non confidence vote. Another avenue is that level of scandal and being found out as the Conservatives press for answer might cause Trudeau to pull the pin and call call an election himself. I do think that Canada really needs to think about term lengths for leaders, just like the US.
I agree..the sooner the better. I always thought a main reason why Trudeau has hung on
as leader so long was his hope that Trump would win and he got his wish. I dont see why either Trudeau or Singh would be in any rush to call an election. The longer it takes the higher the chance Trump does something aggressive and pissed off Canadians. The longer they (pr at least their mainstream media friends) can tie Poilievre and the cons to Trump. Trudeau and his ministers will have to be careful what they say about Trump and maga as they are going to also offend Trump big time also. So it will likely be mainstram media doing the dirty work.

Can't say as I disagree with any of that.
